Ship Builders

We have experience of providing cover for large multi-berth yards handling all types of vessels and small single slipway operations dealing with bunker barges, fishing vessels and small ferries.  The basic principle and potential exposures are generally the same.

Typically the major exposures to address are:

  • physical loss or damage to the vessel under construction
  • liability to third parties
  • physical damage to ship yard buildings and assets
  • loss or damage to parts, equipment in store
  • loss or damage to parts in transit
  • penalties arising from delayed or non-delivery
  • loss of revenue

Cover is normally based upon the Institute Builders Risks Clauses and we have the experience to supplement the standard cover with extensions to address the specific exposures appropriate to your operation.

In addition and dependant on the law and contracts appropriate to the operation it is possible that the yard will need to cover in respect of Employers liability, Public liability, Contractual liability and General liability.

Whatever your needs we have the experience to discuss and recognise your requirements.
